SMMC and COVID-19
The organisers of the competition will try to do everything possible to hold the competition in 2020 as per normal, but will also be reviewing issues around individual safety, lock-downs and social distancing requirements regularly.
The organisers reserve the right to make late changes to how the competition is run if conditions around the pandemic do not continue to improve in countries in the Asia-Pacific region.
All participating universities and individual entrants should be aware of the following:
1) To ensure a level playing field, participating universities are expected to be able to hold the competition in line with the Competition rules. Each university should form their own view as to whether they are in a position to safely participate in the Competition, in compliance with local rules and guidelines that may be in place at the time of the event.
2) Participating universities, or universities interested in participating, are requested to inform the organisers of any difficulties they may have in holding the Competition, or in registering their university by the due date.
3) The Competition may not go ahead in its current form if there are fewer than 10 universities able to participate on the day.
4) The organisers reserve the right to change the number of students who receive prize money based on the number of individual and pairs entries. Such a change would only occur if the total number of entries in either the individual or pairs competition falls below 50.
